CHARLOTTE H. BENSON aka “CHAR”Charlotte “Char” Benson went to her heavenly home on January 3, 2017 after complications from surgery. She was born March 20, 1938 in Concord, NH to Lloyd and Grace Fletcher. She married Frank W. Benson in 1956 in Long Beach, CA. Having left New Hampshire as a teen, Charlotte lived in southern California with her husband, three sons and two foster sons and their families. She and Frank, along with two of their sons’ and families, moved to Kingman, AZ in 1992 to open the Big O Tires store there. Since the 1970’s she worked alongside Frank in various Big O Tire stores as co-owner, until she retired in early 2014. They are both remembered as pillars in the Big O Tires family. Although she and Frank resided in Needles, CA for the next twenty years, Charlotte moved back to Kingman in February of 2015, where she enjoyed her family as well as her church family at Calvary Chapel. She loved visiting with lady friends, discussing her younger years when she worked as a telephone operator at Pacific Bell and competed in synchronized swimming, among other things. The greatest joys in her life were her family and her dogs! Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank and her sister, Peggy. She was beloved as wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her sons Frank (wife Karen), Gene (wife Kristie), and Ron; and also by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial services are planned for Thursday, January 19 at 4 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, 500 Stowell Ave., Kingman, AZ (corner of Spring & Stowell downtown.) There will be an informal celebration of Charlotte’s life at Frank and Karen’s home afterward. Information will be available at the church. Services are also planned for Friday, January 20 at 1 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92518. There will also be an informal gathering at Ken Williams’ home afterward. Information will available at the service or contact the family. Mike leaves behind his wife Linda; mother Mary Johnson; daughters Jennifer and Jaralyn; sister Barb; brothers Ed and Richard and step daughter Shannon. He was preceded in death by his dad Walter; brother Wally “Gator” and stepson Gary. Mike was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Crystal Lake, Illinois. He lived in a few states which included Florida and moved to Arizona in 2003, where his wife lived in Lake Havasu City, then they settled in Dolan Springs in 2004. Mikes jobs were in construction, heavy equipment operator, semi truck driving and worked at a large “produce market” in Tampa, Florida and Dolan Springs, Arizona. He knew several people from hauling pallets to Las Vegas to be refurbished. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., in Dolan Springs, at The First Assembly of God, with Pastor Howard Walzer. Arrangements were made by Sutton Memorial Funeral Home.LUCY ARREDONDO (FERGUSON) BRAITHWAITLucy Arredondo (Ferguson) Braithwait was born on July 27, 1934 to Ponciano and Carolina Avila in Kingman, Arizona and returned to the Lord early Christmas morning December 25, 2016 at the age of 82. She attended Mohave County Union High School where she excelled in the curriculum of the school academic studies program, was a member of the school band, a member of the Girls’ Athletic Association and was a superior softball player with the Kingman Gold Diggers softball team. She married Elmer Ferguson and had four sons over the next several years. In 1973 she married Stanley ‘Speed’ Braithwait, together they doted on and enjoyed showing off their Pomeranians, Princess then Precious, and followed later by Prince. At the end of the 1950’s she began her career at the new Arizona Ford Proving Grounds where she retired from 31 years later. Lucy also began bowling in the early 60’s and was a Tuesday night mixed league standout into the 2000’s when she had to give it up for health reasons. Lucy enjoyed watching and scoring ‘her’ Diamondbacks as well as collecting D’Back memorabilia. Lucy was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she leaves behind many friends and acquaintances including her ‘pew buddies’. Lucy was predeceased by her parents, Ponciano Arredondo and Carolina Avila Arredondo; her sister, also named Luz; brothers, Jesse ‘Chuy’ Arredondo and Joe Arredondo. Lucy is survived by her brothers, Angel Arredondo and Arturo ‘Art’ Arredondo; her sons, Gary (Donna) Ferguson, Larry (Jan) Ferguson, Keith (Dorothy) Ferguson and Earl (Kim) Ferguson; and by her grandchildren; Monica Ann, Eli, Jeanette, Sean, Heather, Nicholas, Austin and Steven; and 10 great-grandchildren. There will be visitation from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. with Rosary to follow, on Friday evening, January 6 at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave., Kingman, AZ. There will be Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, January 7 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 302 W. Spring St., officiated by Fr. Matthew Krempel.
