KINGMAN - Kingman police are investigating a Jan. 6 shooting incident at a gravel pit people commonly use for target practice.

Deputy chief Rusty Cooper said a security guard at the gravel pit in the 4600 block of Airway Avenue called police shortly after 7:00 a.m. to report that he felt subjects in a white Chevrolet pickup truck fired shots in his direction.

The man was not injured.

“Responding officers observed the white truck leaving the area eastbound into the desert area along a dirt access road. Officers activated lights and siren in an attempt to stop the vehicle, which continued to flee at a high rate of speed,” Cooper said in a news release. He said personnel from other agencies assisted but that authorities were not able to locate the vehicle.

“The person alleged to have been firing a gun is described as a white male adult, thin build, about 5’ 6”, wearing a light colored hooded sweatshirt and would have been a passenger in the truck,” Cooper said.
