Mohave County wants to place a loud-sounding horn in the Hualapai Mountains southeast of Kingman to aid in the event evacuation becomes necessary.

County correspondence indicates the horn would be placed at Levi Levi Boy Scout Camp.

The horn already installed in the community of Pine Lake Fire doesn't cover all of Hualapai Mountain Park and the new horn would accomplish that goal should wildfires, storms or other public safety emergencies trigger need of evacuation.

County supervisors are expected to approve a $17,250 grant from the Department of Emergency and Military Affairs during its board meeting this morning. That money would be used to purchase the equipment and the county would meet its 25% matching requirement value of $5,750 by installing the equipment.
