KINGMAN – An apparent accidental fire destroyed an occupied home north of Kingman on Wednesday.

Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District crews received a report of a structure fire at 5:36 a.m. and responded with a battalion chief, two engines, one pumper-tender and a water tender to the 7200 block of Avenida Choluteca on Stockton Hill Road.

Upon arrival, Battalion Chief Tim King assumed overall command. Responding firefighters found an adjacent travel-trailer exposed to fire that was protected by hose streams and fire spread was stopped before impacting adjacent wildland areas.

Eight firefighters responded, including four NACFD1 volunteers.

The cause of the fire is considered accidental based on homeowner statements. It appears to be related to the use of the fireplace. The fire spread through the attic area quickly, resulting in the eventual collapse of the roof.

The structure was occupied by five residents at the time and the occupants were able to safely exit the home with no injuries reported. The structure was a complete loss.
