Dave Cunningham named interim chief in emergency meeting Thursday

GOLDEN VALLEY – Jack Yeager is stepping down as interim chief of the Golden Valley Fire District to transition to a new position with the Kingman Fire Department.

GVFD board of directors Chairman Paul Gorham said Yeager tendered his resignation, effective at the end of this month, on Sunday, March 11.

Assistant Kingman Fire Chief Keith Eaton said Yeager has been hired by the KFD as Building and Life Safety Inspector. Eaton said Jeager's mix of duties will include emergency management and public education.

During an emergency meeting on March 15, GVFD directors appointed Capt. Dave Cunningham as interim chief indefinitely. Gorham said Cunningham could be elevated to chief in the future.

Gorham expressed confidence in Cunningham, a 23-year veteran of the GVFD. Gorham said Cunningham is a dedicated and capable Fire Service professional who enjoys respect and support throughout the department.
