LAKE HAVASU CITY – A kayaker with a ton of experience was no match for high winds on Lake Havasu Saturday.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said the woman was stranded on a rocky shore and was rescued by deputies.

She was uninjured, said Mortensen, and was able to get to shore before large waves capsized her craft.

Mortensen said winds blew at a sustained 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph and reminds people to check the weather before heading out on the water.
