KINGMAN – The Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District is gaining two new governing board members and apparently losing another.

With two seats vacant, the board voted 2-1 in two votes Thursday to appoint Eric Berg and then Carl Hays to the board of directors.

They take seats formerly held by Sue Wilkin and Vic Riccardi, who both exited the board after accepting plea agreements involving conflict of interest indictments.

Longtime board member Patti Lewis drew no support from Chairman Jim Bailey and Clerk Mike Collins when she nominated Wilkin to fill one of the slots. At sentencing, both former directors were forced to step down as part of their respective plea agreement. Fire Chief Wayne Eder awaits trial.

Lewis announced her intention to leave the board in the near future.
