GOLDEN VALLEY – A vehicle full of teenagers crashed in Golden Valley Tuesday, resulting in the death of one of them and injuries for six others.

 

A spokesperson from the Department of Public Safety said the 2005 Jeep SUV was headed west on Highway 68 when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which left the highway, struck a guardrail and rolled at 4:44 p.m. Tuesday, May 15.

A male passenger identified as 19-year-old Cash Petty of Golden Valley was dead at the scene. The 16-year-old male driver and five other passengers were taken to hospitals for treatment of non life-threatening injuries, “Preliminary information is the driver and the deceased passenger were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision,” said DPS in a statement.

Investigators don’t know why the vehicle left the highway and the accident remains under investigation.
