Division 6 judge was part of Mohave County judiciary for over 20 years

 

KINGMAN – Division 6 Mohave County Superior Court Judge Richard Weiss will step down from the bench at the end of this year.

 

Weiss was a private practice attorney when appointed as Mohave County Court Commissioner in May of 1996.

Weiss served two years as commissioner, followed by seven years more as judge pro tem. He was appointed by the governor as a Superior Court Judge in February of 2005 and he was elected to the position multiple times since.

With Weiss retiring, four possible successors appear on the Aug. 28 primary election ballot. They include attorneys Lenore Knudtson, Virginia Crews and Eric Gordon, and Superior Court Commissioner Doug Camacho.

Mohave County Superior Court judges running unopposed in the primary include Chuck Gurtler, Derek Carlisle, Steve Moss, Lee Jantzen and Rick Lambert.
