Golden Valley standpipe No. 1 improved

Employees from TR Orr Inc., based out of Kingman, put the finishing touches on the new concrete pad at the Golden Valley Improvement District Standpipe No. 1 located at Bolsa Drive and Estrella Road.

In addition to the $60,000 cost of the new water monitoring and billing system, GVID is spending about $30,000 for painting of the building and light poles, new ingress and egress asphalt areas and a new concrete pad. The old drain for the concrete pad area was replaced. There is now a 2 percent grade designed into the new pad to keep the water spilled by residents from standing on the pad, that in turn, had caused safety issues in the past. Standpipe No.1 was shut down Tuesday, Jan. 9, for the new construction and GVID officials plan on having it operational today.
