Miller is the third KFD officer to attain prestigious designation in recent months

KINGAN – Kingman Fire Department Capt. Tanner Miller has successfully completed the process that awards the professional designation of Fire Officer.

The Commission on Professional Credentialing met in February to confer the designation. Miller is one of only 450 FOs worldwide.

The Designation program is voluntary and is designed to recognize individuals who demonstrate excellence in seven measured components, including experience, education, professional development, professional contributions, association membership, community involvement and technical competence.

All applicants are required to identify a future professional development plan.

The program uses a comprehensive peer review model to evaluate candidates seeking the credential. The Commission on Professional Credentialing awards the designation only after an individual successfully meets all of the organization’s stringent criteria.

Kingman Fire Chief Jake Rhoades said, “I could not be more proud of Captain Miller as he continues the trend of excellence set by the Kingman Fire Department. This is a tremendous individual accomplishment and embodies the desire for the department to continue to improve and develop itself in order to better serve the community.

“Captain Miller adds to the cadre of individuals who have obtained national recognition or are participating in both statewide and national organizations. This is a testament to the organization and the members that serve the city of Kingman on a daily basis. I cannot say enough about the future of the department with leaders like Captain Miller, as well as captains Simpson and Stapleton, who have also obtained their Fire Officer designation. Combine that with a staff of Chief Fire Officers and other professional designations and the community can rest assured we are doing everything possible to ensure the community has leadership and vision for years to come!
