KINGMAN – Five people are alive today thanks to officers with the Kingman Police Department and their use of a drug that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose.

Last Thursday, the department was recognized for being the first law enforcement agency in the state to develop the Narcan program.

KPD, according to Deputy Chief Rusty Cooper, developed the criteria, trained its officers and activated the program, an accomplishment formally recognized by the Western Arizona Council of EMS.
