Communities across the nation will be busy with the 2020 census next year and Bullhead City is getting a head start.

The City Council has appointed a 16-member complete count committee headed by Mayor Tom Brady.

“This group of people will be instrumental in marketing and getting the word out and helping the U.S. Census Bureau by education our community and making sure that everyone understands the importance of the census and being counted,” said City Manager Toby Cotter. He said government is significantly dependant on revenue sharing determined by population.

“Each person equates to dollars,” Cotter said. “We believe we’ve been under-counted in the past and that hurts everything from parks to police to streets.”

Cotter expressed hope that the Bullhead City head count will reach or exceed 40,000. The census taking effort will culminate in the spring of 2020.
