KINGMAN - A controversial sales tax increase gets wiped off the books in the city of Kingman at the start of the New Year.

The City Council approved the one cent sales tax increase in Aug., 2017 and it was implemented at the start of Nov. of that year.

Voter approval of the Prop. 413 initiative in the recent general election repeals the tax at year’s end. “On Dec. 31, at midnight, we will roll it over,” said City Finance Director Tina Moline.

Moline said the city sent out almost 20,000 letters in early Dec. in an effort to remind all sales tax collectors to calibrate correctly.
