KINGMAN – A Lake Havasu City teenager charged in a fatal traffic accident pleaded not guilty to manslaughter Thursday, March 8.

William Tyler Nunno, 19, is charged in the death last summer of Russ Genovese, 41.

Police reports indicate the 2013 Hyundai driven by Nunno was headed north on Highway 95 when it struck a 2016 Kia driven by Genovese in the vicinity of Industrial Boulevard a few minutes before 2:40 a.m., July 28.

Genovese, of Fontana, California, died at Havasu Regional Medical Center. Nunno also was treated there.

Police suspected impairment from the onset of the investigation, but Nunno denied that he had been drinking and claimed he did not drink. Friends who are witnesses in the case contradicted Nunno, telling police they saw him drink while swimming, and later at a party attended by 20-25 people.

Nunno told police he was driving home when Genovese caused the crash.

“While he was driving home he could see the driver of the other vehicle fall asleep and come in his lane,” Nunno told officers, according to a police report.

Nunno next appears before Judge Billy Sipe for a case management conference on April 23.
