KINGMAN – A man recently arrested for allegedly attempting to strangle his former girlfriend in Bullhead City in May tried to commit suicide in the Mohave County jail. Detective Jason Elsbury said corrections officers found Jesus Rodriguez hanging from a bed sheet at 4:50 p.m. on July 10.

Sheriff Doug Schuster said Rodriguez had been isolated in lockdown in A-pod after telling corrections officers he “would never see the light of day.” Elsbury said corrections staff were conducting welfare checks every two hours.

Rodriquez was located hanging in the cell after other inmates hollered that something was wrong.  Rodriguez was transported to University Medical Center in Las Vegas where he was last listed in critical condition.
