MOHAVE VALLEY - A Mohave Valley man was jailed Tuesday for the shooting death of his girlfriend.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s office is investigating the incident that suspect James Manker, 28, reported by phone at 9:45 a.m.

“Manker advised dispatch that he had shot his girlfriend,” said sheriff’s office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen. She said Manker exited the home and was taken into custody without incident when deputies arrived at a home in the 9000 block of Needles Dr.

“Deputies conducted a safety sweep of the residence and observed the female victim deceased inside the residence of an apparent gunshot wound,” Mortensen said. The victim was identified as Tina Stimmell, 56.

Manker was booked into the Adult Detention Center on a first degree murder charge.
