The man who allegedly hurt an elderly Kingman woman during a Jan. 23 robbery is in custody in Henderson, Nevada.

Kingman police report that Joseph Berryhill, 34, Phoenix, was arrested on unrelated local charges in Henderson on Jan. 28.

Deputy Kingman Police Chief Rusty Cooper said incriminating evidence was located in Berryhill’s possession. Cooper said Henderson police recovered the personal identification of the 80-year-old that was struck in the head with a weapon when she tried to resist the purse snatch in a commercial parking lot on Stockton Hill Road.

The local victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Las Vegas hospital for treatment.

Cooper said Berryhill admitted involvement in the Kingman robbery. He said other identification evidence allowed authorities to also link Berryhill to a similar purse snatch that occurred in Needles, Ca. just hours after the Kingman robbery.

Cooper said the sequence of prosecution is unclear with Berryhill facing charges in Arizona, Nevada and California.
