KINGMAN - Divine Savior Independent Catholic Church will be celebrating Sunday mass at 12:30 p.m. at its downtown Kingman location.

The change from Saturdays was made to better accommodate its growing parish.

The move to Sundays coincides with Divine Savior’s ninth year serving the religious needs of our area. January 10, 2010 the church was born. It held mass at Kings Inn’s conference building for several years before being invited to move to Trinity Episcopal Church.

Bishop Leonard Walker is the founding pastor of the church. He was elevated to Bishop earlier in 2018. However, he continues to celebrate weekly mass. He is assisted by Fr. Andre Matthews and Deacon Richard Brown.

“We’re excited about offering Sunday mass. Mary, our choir director has been hard at work selecting the appropriate songs to celebrate the move,” said Bishop Walker. “We share Trinity Church the invitation of the Episcopalians. Fr. Phil and their members have been very accommodating allowing us to move to a time shortly after their Sunday service.”

The church is a parish of The National Catholic Church of North America. It is part of the independent Catholic movement and is not affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. TNCCNA parishes welcome all in its churches and within its organization. Minorities, women and others long dismissed by Roman Catholicism are welcomed in churches within TNCCNA. Women, for instance are fully respected serving in all positions within the jurisdiction including priesthood. Bishop Sue Provost is currently the presiding bishop.

Divine Savior Independent Catholic Church is deeply committed to its charitable work. It supports the International Medical Corp and AmeriCare. TNCCNA maintains a charity to educate nurses and doctors in Haiti named Friends of Haiti. Divine Savior continues its donations to this important and meaningful work.

Closer to home the church supports Cornerstone Mission. For the past several years it has donated food and continues to serve dinner at Cornerstone Mission.

Since 2015 the church has erected a nativity scene during the Christmas season on Hualapai Mountain Road for all to enjoy.

Divine Savior’s Sunday mass will be celebrated each Sunday at Trinity Church, 423 E. Spring Street in historic downtown Kingman. The congregation welcomes everyone no matter their faith history and offers open communion without restriction.
