KINGMAN - Fire damaged a Kingman home, injured its occupant and killed some pets.

Personnel from the Kingman Fire Department responded on Jan. 8, at 10:46 p.m. to the incident in the 900 block of Center St.

Assistant Fire Chief Keith Eaton said the fire originated in a room at the east end of the residence.

“Crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control from the exterior through a window and kept it from spreading into other areas of the home and attic,” Eaton said. “Neighbors reported that an older man and his dogs resided at the address.”

Eaton said the occupant was rescued from the floor at the front door of the home and that he was flown to a Las Vegas hospital for treatment. He said three dogs perished in the fire, two others were unharmed and another was revived through use of a special oxygen treatment bag.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
